RECREATIONAL SOFTBALL
Spring and Fall are the most popular seasons for softball!
All girls will be placed on a team & everyone plays, regardless of physical ability, skill level, or financial situation. The rules and coaching are adjusted based on age level; girls as young as three years old really can play softball.
Register your player in the age-appropriate division; email our Player Agent for help determining the appropriate division for your player.
Got Siblings? Register one player at full price and receive a 50% rebate (after registration) on the second player from the same family.
If you need financial assistance, please complete the scholarship form.

Optional gear to be purchased by the family includes batting gloves, belt, and bat.
NOTE: BHGS has a Take What You Need Equipment Table at the beginning of the season. BHGS receives donations of slightly used softball equipment and makes that equipment available to families for free. If equipment costs are prohibitive for your family, please get in touch with someone on the board. We will find a way to get your daughter geared up discreetly.

Our mission at BHGS is to give any girl who would like to play recreational softball the opportunity to play. Full and partial scholarships are available to families. Please complete the scholarship application.
Scholarship families may be required to complete designated volunteer hours.

Team Sponsor— BHGS keeps the registration fee low to allow all families to participate. Team sponsorships help BHGS keep the costs reasonable. We ask all members’ families to help find a team sponsor, with a suggested donation of at least $300 for the season. Typically, sponsorship comes from a local business, team business owner, or corporate sponsor. The sponsor's logo is included on the team page in the yearbook. Although the league depends on sponsorships to operate (and keep fees low), families are never expected to "chip in" to cover this sponsorship if the team can't find a business to contribute.
Snack Shack—As a volunteer organization, team adults must volunteer at the Snack Shack. The “Home” team supplies one volunteer to work the snack shack. Games and practices will not begin until the Snack Shack has the necessary volunteers. The Snack Shack Coordinator coordinates shifts with the Team Managers at the beginning of the season.
End-of-season celebration / Coaches’ gifts — Some teams opt to have a year-end celebration party and collect donations for coaches' gifts. These are optional fees, usually $10 to $30 per player.
-
BHGS is a 100% volunteer-based organization. We use volunteers from the board to coaches/managers to work in the snack shack. We cannot exist without your help. Parents are required to volunteer their time in some capacity, including coaching, assistant coaching, team manager, team chaperone, game day field preps, cleanup and maintenance, opening/closing ceremonies, and uniforms. Learn about volunteering.
Parent involvement — It’s our experience that your daughter will appreciate and benefit enormously from your involvement, and we highly encourage you to attend your daughter’s practices, games, and related softball team activities. In addition, most Coaches and Managers appreciate any extra help they can get, so please volunteer to help at practices, games, or in team support positions. Don’t worry if you “know nothing about softball”- every parent has something to offer.

A player may request one friend to be a buddy and be on your player’s team. We will try our best to accommodate all requests.
• Siblings playing in the same age division will automatically be placed on the same team unless the parent/guardian requests that they be placed on separate teams.
• A current player may make 6u buddy requests for all players in 6U.
• A current player may make 8U ,10U, & 12U buddy requests for all players new to softball or BHGS.
