Seasonal Board

The seasonal board members are volunteers interested in supporting the league in a minor capacity, focusing on a specific area of interest. Seasonal Board members generally co-chair specific areas during the spring and fall seasons. Their commitment ranges from a few days to a few weeks.

BHGS needs your help, and there is a position that will fit your interest and availability.

DIVISION SUPPORT TEAM

Each Division Rep is the liaison within the division who coordinates with the coaches and managers on rules, questions, and other concerns within the divisions.  The Division Rep is also the liaison with the BHGS board. (Commitment: February to May - 3 planning meetings February, weekly check-in with teams, Spring Board meetings)

field Maintenance team

Coordinates the maintenance of the fields and snack shack building. (Commitment: Weekends in January and February)

EQUIPMENT COORDINATOR TEAM

Coordinates the inventory, maintenance, order, and distribution/collection of softball equipment to the teams. (Commitment: Two Saturdays in February – One Saturday in May)

SNACK SHACK (CONCESSIONS)

Multiple coordinators oversee the operation of the snack shack during the spring season. Please work with the BHGS volunteer coordinator to schedule the parent volunteer staffing shifts and the division representatives to supply an adult volunteer during their game when they are the home team. Coordinate purchases of supplies.   (Commitment: Spring – Share Weekly duties during the season with additional assistance from the BHGS board.)

MARKETING TEAM

Coordinate the various marketing components of the league, including player recruitment, overseeing webmaster, and picture day.

SPECIAL EVENTS TEAM

Coordinate Opening and Closing ceremonies and league special events like coordinating attendance at a college softball game, Coach and Player of the Year Award.  (Commitment: 3 planning meetings in February, the day of the events)

HIT-A-THON/SPONSORSHIP TEAM 

Co-chairs coordinate the annual Hit-a-thon fundraiser.

WEBMASTER 

Coordinates the BHGS website. (Commitment: October season update of website.)

  • Website/Technology - One Volunteer

TOURNAMENT / TRAVEL COORDINATOR

Coordinates the BHGS summer and fall travel program and organizes the BHGS tournaments. (Commitment: April – June 3 planning meetings,  team formations, check-in with summer and fall teams).

SOCIAL MEDIA

Coordinates all social media for the league, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram (Commitment: Hour a week during the various softball seasons)

UNIFORMS

Co-chairs coordinate the planning, purchasing, and distribution of all uniforms for players, managers, coaches, and board. (Commitment: Several Hours in February, and August for uniform ordering, a few evenings to distribute uniforms)

UMPIRE 

Coordinates the recruiting, training (through the USA softball clinics), and scheduling of umpires. (Commitment: Training weekend – A few hours each week during the season)

SAFETY TEAM

Coordinates the safety protocols for the league from preparing first aid kits for each team, to ordering first aid supplies, to AED/CPR training

COACHES SUPPORT TEAM

Coordinate support to all division coaches to include, organize clinics, and mentoring. General Coordinator - One Volunteer

  • Coaches/Manager Certification, ACE Training - One Volunteer

  • Coaches/Manager Mentoring - One Volunteer

PHOTO DAY / YEARBOOK

Co-chairs schedule and coordinate the team photo day by a professional photographer.

Coordinates with all teams to obtain photos of the season for the yearbook, and work with a print company to design and print the yearbook (Commitment: email teams and collect pictures, Late April, meet with printer.)

Volunteer Coordinator

Co-chairs coordinate the scheduling of volunteers for the various BHGS events. (Commitment: February -  April  2 hours week scheduling volunteers)

INTERLEAGUE COORDINATOR TEAM

Coordinate with the local teams interleague games for the season.

LEAGUE SCHEDULING TEAM

Compile and Coordinate the league practice and games schedules including field assignments and home and visitor designation

UMPIRE TEAM

Oversee the umpire program. Recruit and train, through USA Softball, junior and senior umpires. Oversee the softball rules for all divisions.
